Pickup Truck Crash Sparks Fire and Damages San Jose Water Park Slide

A pickup truck crashed into a fence near CaliBunga Water Park in San Jose shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday and caught fire, igniting nearby vegetation. The blaze spread to a water slide, but firefighters contained it to the park’s northwest corner by about 6 p.m. Crews remained at the scene, and officials urged the public to avoid the area. The park, formerly known as Raging Waters, is closed for renovations.
The San Jose Fire Department classified the incident as a Tier 1 vegetation fire.
CaliBunga is located at 2333 S. White Road in San Jose.
The park’s temporary closure was part of a redesign of Lake Cunningham Regional Park, according to city officials.
