Prince Harry and Meghan Condemn Reckless Press Intrusion at Childrens School

Prince Harry and Meghan condemned what they called an “extraordinarily reckless” invasion of their children’s privacy after two men were reportedly seen walking around the perimeter of Archie and Lilibet’s new U.K. school, looking into the grounds and monitoring pupils. School staff and the couple’s security team reportedly observed the men leaving in a rented white van; police identified at least one as a photographer working for a European press agency. The couple said the incident was especially concerning so soon after a security scare at RAF Fairford. The family has kept its home and school locations private, and the children recently changed schools over security and logistical concerns. The episode adds to Harry and Meghan’s continuing dispute over media intrusion and their request for publicly funded police protection in Britain.
The children reportedly switched schools just two days into the term; heavy traffic on the route to their original school had raised concerns for the family’s security team.
Harry has long linked his concerns about press intrusion to his mother Princess Diana’s death in 1997, when the car she was travelling in crashed as its driver sped away from pursuing paparazzi.
The report notes that Harry’s brother, Prince William, has also faced European paparazzi and previously won privacy cases against French magazines over photographs of his family taken when they were not on official duties.
People reported that police identified the photographer through the driver’s license used to rent the van.
