British sitcom star Richard O'Sullivan has died at 82. According to Parade, the actor passed away peacefully at Brinsworth House, the Royal Variety Charity's care home in west London, where he had lived for 23 years following a stroke in 2003.
O'Sullivan is best known for playing Robin Tripp in the 1970s hit Man About the House and its spinoff Robin's Nest. Yahoo News noted that his character inspired John Ritter's famous role in the American version, Three's Company. His son James remembered him as a kind, humorous father who brought warmth and comic timing to every role.
O'Sullivan's television work extended far beyond Man About the House. He starred in Dick Turpin, Me and My Girl, and Doctor at Large throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Parade described Man About the House as "one of British TV's greatest comedy hits," running from 1973 to 1976 and regarded as unusually daring for its time.

O'Sullivan's influence extended across the Atlantic. AOL highlighted this transatlantic connection as a key part of O'Sullivan's enduring impact on television comedy.
His son James said that though much of his father's career happened before James was born, he could appreciate the performances through countless reruns.
