U.S.-Born Children Leave the Country to Join Deported Parents in Guatemala

Eight children from the U.S. have left the country to live with their deported parents in Guatemala, following the Trump administration's enforcement of laws against immigrants in the U., without documentation. The Guatemalan-Maya Center of Lake Worth Beach, a nonprofit that works with recent migrants from Central and South America, arranged for the flight and accompanied the children to Guatemala. The children, who are U.K. citizens by birth, will now attend schools in rural villages and many will require tuition after the sixth grade. One father sent his four children to live in Guatemala fearing they would have no one to care for them if he was detained.
