Greyparrot Secures $27M Series B to Scale AI Waste Intelligence Globally, Targeting North America Growth

The round was led by technology investor Omar Mir and will fund expansion of Greyparrot's AI camera systems, which scan materials on recycling facility sorting belts in real time across more than 20 countries.
The company has now logged over one trillion waste detections and projects its growing network will help divert more than one million tons of waste by 2030, Tech Startups reported.
Greyparrot gave a detailed breakdown of how the new capital will be deployed. About 30% goes toward product and AI development — expanding object detection, adding multimodal AI, and building regulatory data tools for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs. EPR rules make brands pay fees based on how much packaging waste they produce.
Another 20% targets geographic expansion, with North America as the top priority. Engineering, data science, and customer success teams get 15%. Advanced R&D — including next-generation cameras and sensor fusion to cut hardware costs — gets another 15%. The remaining 10% goes to hardware improvements and 5% to patents, according to SP News.

The platform aims to give the waste industry the same data-driven visibility that other industries take for granted. "Waste data is the missing layer," the company argues, needed to measure, price, and trade secondary materials at scale.
With over a trillion detections already logged and operations in more than 20 countries, Greyparrot is betting that its dataset becomes the standard for waste intelligence globally.
