New Gallup Poll Shows Belief In Higher Education Hits Historic Low

A new Gallup poll has found that Americans' belief in the importance of higher education has hit a new low, with only 31 percent of respondents saying it is "very important" due to concerns about the high cost of college. This is a four-percentage-point drop from last year and the lowest number since the question was first asked in 1978. As recently as 2013, 70 percent of American adults said college was very important.
