Brennan's Third Stage Victory

Matthew Brennan secures third Vuelta a Espana stage victory during intense crosswinds.

Matthew Brennan, a race debutant, won the Vuelta a Espana stage 11 in Lorca, marking his third victory in the race. The Briton benefited from a perfect Visma-Lease a Bike leadout, finishing ahead of Wout van Aert and Bryan Coquard. The general classification remained unchanged, with Enric Mas maintaining his one minute 18 seconds lead over Primož Roglič. Crosswinds briefly threatened to split the peloton midway through the stage, but after 10km, the two groups came back together. The heat of Murcia in southern Spain was not an easy day for the pelote, particularly in the oppressive conditions. The stage 12's summit finish to Calar Alto is expected to be challenging as it precedes four categorised climbs.
