Apple Introduces $49.99 Family Plan Covering Six People and Devices

AppleCare One Family can also cover eligible Macs, including MacBooks, in addition to iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches.
The $49.99 monthly price does not increase based on the number of eligible devices enrolled, so families can add qualifying products without paying an additional per-device fee.
AppleCare One Family requires customers to configure Family Sharing through the Settings app on an iPhone, iPad or Mac before inviting up to five other members and enrolling their devices.
AppleCare One, the predecessor plan for up to three products, has expanded beyond the United States to Australia, France, Germany and the United Kingdom; the Family tier is being offered to U.S. customers.

The plan covers iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and MacBooks—essentially Apple's full consumer device lineup. This shared pool means one person's repeated damage claims can eat into coverage for others.

A family with four iPhones, two iPads, and one Apple Watch—seven devices total—pays just $50 per month regardless of that mix Android Headlines. Buying individual AppleCare plans for each device would cost significantly more. The break-even point comes quickly with three or more devices worth protecting.
Families must weigh the fixed monthly cost against the six-claim annual cap. Households with history of theft or frequent accidents may hit that limit and lose protection mid-year. Conversely, families with minimal incidents across many devices get exceptional coverage value compared to paying per-device premiums Yahoo Tech.
AppleCare One Family is available exclusively to U.S. customers PCMag UK, while the original AppleCare One plan has already expanded to Australia, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The rollout became available starting September 14, though some sources indicate it may have opened earlier following Apple's announcement iPhone in Canada.
