Winless Denmark and Wales Seek First Points in UEFA Nations League Clash

Denmark and Wales met at Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium on September 27 seeking their first points in UEFA Nations League Group A4 after losing their openers: Denmark fell 3-2 to Norway, while Wales lost 1-0 to Portugal. With only the top two teams advancing and the bottom side relegated, the early fixture carried added weight. Denmark manager Brian Riemer anticipated Wales would look to keep possession, while Danish forward Rasmus Højlund warned of the visitors’ pace on the counterattack. Wales were without several injured players, including Harry Wilson, Joe Rodon and Karl Darlow, and Craig Bellamy made six changes to the starting lineup from the Portugal match. Denmark also had absences, including Christian Eriksen and William Osula, while captain Pierre-Emile Højbjerg had raised concerns about the team’s midfield setup after the Norway defeat.
Denmark came back from 0-2 down against Norway before Erling Haaland scored in the 74th minute to seal the 3-2 result.
Wales’ loss to Portugal was decided by a deflected João Félix goal.
Craig Bellamy’s six changes included bringing Connor Roberts, Chris Mepham, Charlie Savage, Sorba Thomas, Dan James and Kieffer Moore into the starting lineup; Danny Ward stayed in goal.
The match at Parken Stadium drew 38,065 spectators; the stadium opened in 1992.
