Broadcast Name Slip

Jason Kelce accidentally uses Washington's former team name during live broadcast

Jason Kelce, who is currently an in-game analyst for NFL Network, made an on-air blunder during his debut as a live analysis for the Washington Commanders' game against the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 4. While discussing the team's former nickname, Kelce accidentally used it. The mistake was quickly corrected by Dave Pasch and Kurt Warner, who informed Kelce he had used the old nickname. This follows a decision in 2020 by the Washington Football Team to retire its former nickname due to criticism that it was a racial slur against Native Americans.
