Veteran Bollywood producer Vashu Bhagnani has reportedly been hospitalized in London following tax inquiries.

Veteran Bollywood producer Vashu Bhagnani has reportedly been hospitalized in London, but the reason for his admission and details of his condition have not been disclosed; when contacted, he asked to be left alone. The reports come shortly after India’s Income Tax Department searched 12 locations in Mumbai linked to Bhagnani, actress Rakul Preet Singh and Panorama Studios as part of an inquiry into suspected overseas transactions associated with film projects. Authorities have not publicly announced findings or confirmed any tax violations, and no connection between the inquiry and Bhagnani’s hospitalization has been established. Bhagnani founded Pooja Entertainment in 1995 and produced films including Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1 and Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein.
The reported searches were also linked to Vashu Bhagnani’s son, Jackky Bhagnani, according to Filmfare.
Filmfare reported that investigators were examining cross-border transaction records to trace the source of funds, including transactions described as film financing and expenses.
Pooja Entertainment has faced a difficult box-office period in recent years; Lehren cited Bell Bottom, Mission Raniganj and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan among films that struggled commercially, and said the Coolie No. 1 remake received a mixed response.
Bhagnani is also producing the upcoming film Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues, starring Shahid Kapoor; Filmfare reported that no release date had been announced.
