Municipal Election Forums Highlight Local Issues Across Multiple Communities Ahead of 2026 Voting

From Montana to Canada, candidates are meeting voters at forums and touring local projects to discuss their visions for housing, infrastructure and community services. Choteau Acantha reported that in Teton County, Montana, two commissioner candidates shared their backgrounds and reasons for running for office.
The forums are giving residents a chance to ask candidates about pressing issues. Pembroke Today noted that 12 of 14 eligible council candidates in Pembroke took the stage at Festival Hall to answer questions about recreation, infrastructure, inclusion, homelessness and addiction.

The city approved funding for the shelter village as part of its encampment response plan. TB Newswatch noted that photography and social media posts were barred at the tour site, keeping the pre-opening visit private for candidates only.
A Western Slope forum brought together candidates for Garfield County and state legislative seats. Candidates discussed major community challenges: housing, economic development, infrastructure and resource management. The forum gave residents and candidates a chance to explore these interconnected issues.
These forums reflect growing election activity as communities prepare for 2026 voting. Vernon Matters reported that various jurisdictions are using questionnaires and public events to help voters learn about candidates' positions on local priorities.
Cranbrook is urging voters to plan ahead for the October election. Advance polls will be held on October 7 and 14, with general voting on October 17. Residents not on the 2026 municipal-election voters list can register at the polls.
