Barry Morphew, accused of murdering his wife in 2020, was arrested Thursday evening in Boulder County after violating the strict conditions of his $3 million bond. Judge Issues New Arrest Warrant and Revokes Travel Freedom
After reviewing the incident, Judge Amanda Hopkins immediately revoked Morphew's travel privileges and ordered full house arrest. She observed that Morphew nearly struck another person and drove over a curb to flee the scene, showing reckless behavior.
The judge modified his bond requirements to cash-only, meaning his family must pay $3 million in actual cash rather than using a surety bond. Morphew has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in his wife Suzanne's 2020 disappearance. KCTV 5 reported that Suzanne's remains were found in September 2023 in Saguache County, Colorado. Bone marrow testing revealed traces of a tranquilizer used for wildlife, investigators said.
The murder trial is set to begin next summer.
