Sri Lanka captain and wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis scored 121 off 100 balls in the must-win second ODI against England at Headingley, reaching his century in 82 deliveries after returning from injury. He became the second Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter to score an ODI century as captain, after Kumar Sangakkara, and his innings surpassed Sangakkara’s 111 for the highest ODI score by a Sri Lankan captain-wicketkeeper.
