Investment Firms Disclose Multi-Million Dollar New Stakes in Amazon During Second Quarter

Several investment firms disclosed new Amazon positions acquired in the second quarter, reflecting continued institutional interest in the company. Route One Investment Company reported the largest highlighted purchase, about 1.03 million shares valued at roughly $246 million; other reported new positions included Sone Capital Management’s 113,779 shares, Wilmar Advisors’ 25,000 shares, Western Wealth Management’s 21,610 shares and Delos Wealth Advisors’ 12,374 shares. The reports also cited other funds adding to or opening Amazon holdings, and said institutional investors collectively own 72.2% of the stock. Separate filings disclosed sales of Amazon shares by company executives, including CEO Matthew Garman and CFO Brian Olsavsky.
Route One’s 1,032,200-share Amazon position represented about 9.9% of its portfolio and was its second-largest holding.
Wilmar Advisors said Amazon accounted for about 4.3% of its portfolio, making it the fund’s eighth-largest holding.
Sone Capital Management’s new Amazon stake made up 2.1% of its holdings and was its 11th-largest position.
Beyond the highlighted purchases, Stockbridge Partners disclosed a new Amazon stake valued at about $423.3 million; Bank of New York Mellon separately reported a new position worth about $16.34 billion.
