Meronk was named DP World Tour Player of the Year in 2023 but was left off Europe’s Ryder Cup team in Rome; he joined LIV Golf the following year and later accepted a deal that let him retain his DP World Tour membership.
Meronk arrived in the week in poor form by LIV standards: he had not recorded a top-20 finish on the circuit that season, was ranked 141st in the Race to Dubai, and had fallen to 527th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
The win was especially emotional for Meronk, who said, “I never usually cry, but this one feels really special. I'm lost for words. I'm extremely happy and quite relieved.”
Tommy Fleetwood recorded the low round of the day with a 64 and tied for fourth; Brooks Koepka and Robert MacIntyre finished tied for sixth.
