A$AP Rocky Reflects on Beverly Hills Home Shooting's Deep Impact on Family Safety

A$AP Rocky said in a new VIBE interview that the March shooting at his Beverly Hills home disrupted his family’s sense of safety and normalcy, describing the experience as “f---ed up” and saying it took away the peace he previously took for granted. Prosecutors allege bullets struck the property while Rocky, Rihanna, and their three children were inside, and the accused shooter, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, pleaded not guilty and is facing multiple felony charges including attempted murder, with bail set at $1.875 million and a possible life sentence. Sources previously told PEOPLE that Rihanna was deeply shaken even though no one was reported hurt. In the same VIBE feature tied to its return to print, Rocky also addressed his stance on creative experimentation, his approach to fatherhood, and how the incident has sharpened his focus on protecting his family. Together, the coverage underscores both the ongoing legal stakes for Ortiz and how the alleged attack continues to shape Rocky’s outlook months later.
Rocky told VIBE he would not “water down” his experimental direction, saying: “If they don’t get it, f**k it… I’m a chef. I’m cooking you these five-star dishes… If you don’t have this acquired taste, don’t listen to this s**t.”
In the same VIBE interview, Rocky also described a fatherhood shift in emotional terms, saying: “Being emotionally present, emotionally available, receptive, still endearing, but not only that, loving. That’s easy. That’s me all day.”
Ortiz asked to have bail reduced based on her ability to pay, but the judge declined the request, according to reporting cited by The Associated Press.
Rocky said he’s looking ahead to a large summer cookout in Harlem, while also recalling how things used to be—joking that “you couldn’t stay at a cookout for more than an hour because motherf***** start shooting.”
Ortiz denied the allegations in court; TMZ reported she insisted she “wasn’t attempting murder.”
