Google Launches Gemini 4 Argon AI Model Targeting Enterprise Software and Cybersecurity

Google unveiled Gemini 4 Argon, its latest flagship AI model, for complex software engineering, enterprise knowledge work and cybersecurity. It is being tested by Google and trusted cyber defenders, with broader access planned after further safety testing and work on safeguards against misuse and unintended behavior. Google announced introductory API prices of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. The company says Argon leads or ties rivals on several benchmarks, though competitors remain ahead in some areas; Alphabet shares rose about 1.7% in after-hours trading after the announcement.
Google says it is already using Argon internally for data-center memory efficiency and quantum-computing optimization.
The initial rollout includes trusted cyber defenders through Google’s Fairwind Program; Google says some will use Argon with its cyber safeguards switched off. The first public access is planned for paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers, with no free tier announced.
Google’s disclosed comparison covered 18 benchmarks: Argon led outright on 12 and tied for first on one, while GPT-6 Astra led three and Claude Opus 5.5 led two. The results still showed rivals ahead in some technical categories.
Argon’s introductory cached-input price is $0.10 per million tokens, a 95% discount from its standard input rate.
