Stride Names Robert Knowling CEO as Company Reports Strong Fiscal 2026 Growth

Robert Knowling, currently an independent member of Stride's Board, has been named Chief Executive Officer effective July 29, 2026, bringing more than 30 years of leadership in technology and education, including roles as CEO of the NYC Leadership Academy and Covad Communications.
Stride's board chair Steven Fink framed the leadership transition as a move to accelerate execution of the company’s growth roadmap in the face of continued strong demand for its alternative education platform.
As part of the transition, James Rhyu will step down from his roles as CEO and as a member and Chair of the Board, effective with Knowling’s appointment.
In a separate market update, Striders Corp. of Japan (Striders Corp. 9816.TO) reported 1Q results ending June 30, 2026 with revenue of 1.66 billion yen and net profit of 18.0 million yen (EPS 2.04), down from a year earlier, with figures based on Japanese accounting standards.

Adjusted EBITDA — a measure of earnings before interest, taxes, and certain costs — reached $617.6 million, up from $571.0 million in the prior year.
Net income of $338.2 million marks a 17% jump from the year before, according to ScanX Trade. Revenue growth of roughly $113 million year-over-year suggests Stride is winning more students and expanding its reach. The Japanese company reported net profit of 18.0 million yen, down from 23.0 million yen a year earlier MarketWatch. Earnings per share came in at 2.04 yen. Operating profit, however, rose to 55.0 million yen from 46.0 million yen in the same period last year.
