Shohei Ohtani, a Japanese baseball player, has been benched from the Dodgers' series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals due to health concerns. Manager Dave Roberts stated that the area around Ohtoni's right biceps and neck was causing him to feel unwell. Despite not feeling "100%," Ohtania's return to the mound stalled and his throwing progression stalled. He hasn't pitched since July 3 due to soreness and has had to postpone his return to pitching twice since receiving an Orthovisc injection. As valuable as a pitcher, his offensive impact is needed more, especially with the addition of left-hander Tarik Skubal.
