No. 13 Penn State Opens Big Ten Play At Home Against Wisconsin

No. 13 Penn State will open Big Ten play at home against Wisconsin on Saturday at 5 p.m., bringing a 3-0 record into the game after outscoring opponents 127-22. Leading receiver Koby Howard is expected to miss an extended period, and tight end Andrew Rappleyea is questionable; Zay Robinson, veteran receivers and freshman Amarion Jackson could see more opportunities. Penn State also needs to improve on third downs and in the red zone, while its pass rush has produced five sacks in three games and defensive end Max Granville is out for the season. Wisconsin enters after a nonconference loss to Notre Dame, and running back Abu Sama is expected to return after missing last week.
Zay Robinson has already made an impact as both a receiver and punt returner: he has five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown, and is averaging 13.2 yards on 13 punt returns, with a long of 38 yards.
Penn State has won its last six games against Wisconsin and leads the all-time series 12-9.
Beaver Stadium’s renovation, a $700 million project, is expected to continue into 2027; the stadium could hold 109,000 fans this season, and the crowd may make it harder for Wisconsin’s offense to communicate.
Several Penn State defenders previously played at Iowa State with Wisconsin running back Abu Sama, including edge rushers Ike Ezeogu and Caleb Bacon, linebackers Kooper Ebel and Cael Brezina, and defensive backs Marcus Neal Jr., Jeremiah Cooper and Jamison Patton.
