Ruby Rose Recalls Being Accused Of Murder After Finding Injured Boy

Ruby Rose says she was 15 when she and a friend discovered a gravely injured 4-year-old boy in the backyard of a family gathering in Australia. She carried him inside, and adults called for help, but the boy later died after being hospitalized. Police questioned Rose at school, and classmates called her “baby killer,” leaving her distressed; Rose says the child’s brother later recovered memories of the incident and told police it was an accident. She recounted the experience on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s “Off the Vine” podcast.
Rose said that because she found the child and there were no other witnesses at the scene, she was accused of murder.
Rose recalled thinking she had saved the boy when he took a deep breath after she picked him up; he was later placed on life support, but doctors could not save him after severe brain damage.
Rose said the child’s family did not want her to attend his funeral.
According to Rose, the boy’s brother was seven and had witnessed the incident; after recovering memories, he told police it had been an accident.
