Costly Baserunning Mistake

Austin Wells breaks up no-hitter before baserunning blunder costs Yankees game

Austin Wells, the New York Yankees catcher, broke up Drew Rasmussen's no-hitter with two outs in the eighth inning of the eighth, but instead of breaking it, he inadvertently dug for third base. This mistake cost the Yankees a 1-0 lead in the ninth inning of ALDS Game 1. Despite a perfect relay from Victor Mesa Jr. to Taylor Walls to third baseman Junior Caminero and a well-executed relay from Taylor Walls, the Rays have a 1.0 lead.
