Meta introduces AI-powered tools to let creators build games directly from text prompts.

Meta announced Horizon Create, a mobile app, and Horizon Studio, a browser-based editor, to help people generate and refine 2D or 3D mobile games using AI prompts. The tools are planned for early access through a waitlist, and creators will be able to adjust elements such as art direction, progression, difficulty and multiplayer features. Meta also plans to recommend eligible games on Facebook and Instagram, where users may be able to enter a game from a video clip without downloading a separate app. The company says games that are stable, engaging and encourage players to return may receive more reach, though final access and publishing terms have not been fully detailed.
Meta said the tools are built on the Meta Horizon Engine’s agentic creation capabilities. VP of Horizon Saxs Persson described the aim: “If you have a great idea for a game, you should be able to build it and get it in front of players without spending months navigating tools, hardware, and marketing.”
Horizon Create will let users start from a blank canvas or a ready-made template. Meta says generated builds can take shape in the background while creators use other apps or play other games, with a notification when a build is ready to test; users can also run multiple projects at once.
Meta presents the tools as a response to barriers in conventional game development, which it says can require months of work, expensive hardware and specialized skills, while still leaving creators struggling to find an audience after launch.
The announcement comes as Roblox is also developing AI game-creation tools. The article cited by UA.News reported that Roblox had 123 million daily active users, compared with 300,000 monthly Horizon users at the beginning of 2022.
