Premier Energies commissions India's largest 7GW solar cell plant in Andhra Pradesh.

Premier Energies said the facility’s commissioning was completed on time and within budget. Managing Director Chiranjeev Saluja described it as a significant execution milestone and said the timing coincides with favorable expectations for orders, pricing and demand for high-efficiency solar products.
The new cell plant complements Premier Energies’ already operational 5.6 GW fully automated module facility; the company’s module manufacturing capacity has consequently risen to 11.1 GW, or more than 10 GW.
Premier Energies reported that its existing operational cell manufacturing plants had achieved a record capacity utilisation rate of 92%, providing a measure of current operating performance alongside the new facility’s trial production.
The company expects the new plant to reach full ramp-up by the third quarter, following its August disclosure about operationalising the 7 GW TOPCon facility.
The commissioning disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations & Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, indicating that the announcement formed part of the company’s formal listed-company reporting obligations.
Premier Energies has commissioned India's largest solar-cell manufacturing plant, a 7 GW facility in Andhra Pradesh that uses advanced N-type TOPCon technology. The Hindu Business Line reported the facility began trial production on time and within its ₹3,293 crore budget, raising the company's total cell capacity to 10.6 GW and positioning it as India's dominant solar manufacturer.
The plant in Naidupeta spans 101 acres and can produce roughly 88,000 solar cells per hour with artificial intelligence and automated handling systems. Yahoo Finance noted the facility targets average cell efficiency of 25.8% after full ramp-up, expected by the third quarter, while a water-recycling system supports sustainability goals.
The commissioning marks a turning point for India's solar manufacturing. Equity Pandit reported that Premier Energies' existing cell plants achieved 92% capacity utilization, signaling strong demand. Combined with the new 7 GW facility, the company now commands significant scale to serve both domestic and international markets for high-efficiency solar products.
The plant uses N-type TOPCon G12R solar cells, a cutting-edge technology that boosts energy conversion. Power Technology explained the facility integrates digital systems and artificial intelligence to improve efficiency and control production quality at scale. The design allows for future upgrades to even more advanced TOPCon+ technologies as the industry evolves.
The cell plant complements Premier Energies' existing 5.6 GW module manufacturing facility. Renewable Watch noted that combined, the company now operates 11.1 GW of module capacity — more than 10 GW — making it a fully integrated solar manufacturer. This vertical integration strengthens supply reliability and reduces dependence on external suppliers.
Managing Director Chiranjeev Saluja called the on-time, on-budget completion a significant milestone. The timing coincides with favorable expectations for orders, pricing, and demand for high-efficiency solar products. As India pushes to expand renewable energy capacity, Premier Energies' expanded footprint positions it to capture growing market share in both domestic and export markets.
