California Man Arrested for Vandalizing Automated License Plate Reader Cameras

A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of damaging Flock cameras in Highland, California, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies found multiple automated license plate reader cameras vandalized on Aug. 21 and significantly damaged. The vandalism comes amid outrage over automated license plates, particularly Flock-brand cameras, which have been shared with federal immigration officials and used by law enforcement agencies to stalk individuals. The department has recorded other instances of vandalism in recent months, including multiple cameras being vandalized in the Morongo Basin Station area since March and several in Adelanto. The man was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 2, on suspicion felony vandalism.
