Castlevania Belmont’s Curse Demo Plans October Launch

The demo is expected to be a relatively small download of roughly 3–6 GB, depending on the platform; the Switch version requires at least 3 GB of storage.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is being developed by Konami and Evil Empire, with advisory assistance from Motion Twin, and is intended to mark Castlevania’s 40th anniversary.
Rose’s combat progression includes an Arcana system: after defeating bosses such as Death, Medusa, Carmilla and the new boss Joan of Arc, players seal their abilities into tarot cards that can be used to cast spells and perform special actions.
The game’s story begins with Trevor Belmont and his daughter Rose confronting monsters in a burning Paris, before Rose becomes entangled in a darker conspiracy beneath the city.
Konami initially planned to release the game later on Switch, but subsequently confirmed that the Switch version would launch on October 15 alongside the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC editions.
Konami and Evil Empire will launch a free demo for Castlevania: Belmont's Curse on October 1, 2026, giving players two weeks to try the opening section before the full game arrives on October 15. Eurogamer reports that save data transfers to the main game, so progress made in the demo won't be lost — as long as players use the same platform and account.
The demo will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, with downloads ranging from 3–6 GB depending on platform. altchar notes that the Switch version runs at 30 frames per second while other platforms hit 60 fps.
Players who dive into the October 1 demo can transfer their saves directly to the full October 15 release without restarting. altchar confirms that the feature works seamlessly across platforms — but only if you stay on the same console and keep your game updated.
The demo is designed as a relatively lean download. psu.com reports that Switch players need at least 3 GB of free storage, while other platforms may require up to 6 GB. This manageable file size makes it easy to test the game before committing to the full purchase.
The game follows Rose Belmont as she battles creatures in 15th-century Paris and Dracula's castle. psu.com explains that the story begins with Trevor Belmont and his daughter Rose confronting monsters in a burning Paris, before Rose uncovers a darker conspiracy beneath the city.
Combat centers on whip-based attacks enhanced by an Arcana system. After defeating bosses like Death, Medusa, Carmilla, and the new boss Joan of Arc, players seal their powers into tarot cards that unlock spells and special abilities — giving players multiple ways to customize their approach to combat.
Developer Evil Empire, which created the hit roguelike Dead Cells, is taking the helm with advisory support from Motion Twin. Eurogamer notes that this release is intended to celebrate Castlevania's four decades as a franchise.
The full game launches October 15 across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch simultaneously. Konami initially planned a delayed Switch release but ultimately confirmed that all platforms launch together.
