Researchers name four newly discovered Australian insect species after pop star Taylor Swift

The study describing the 12 species was published in the scientific journal *Insect Systematics and Evolution*.
The insects belong to the Miridae family, the largest family of true bugs, with more than 11,000 described species worldwide; the family includes both plant feeders and predators.
The newly identified insects are only fractions of an inch long and have piercing-sucking mouthparts that allow them to draw juices from plant stems and shoots; related plant bugs may live for just one or two months.
