Seagate Reports Robust Q4 2026 Results, Fueled by AI and Cloud Demand

Q4 2026 non-GAAP EPS was $5.71, above the GAAP EPS of $5.58 for the period, with quarterly revenue of about $3.629 billion.
In Q4 2026, Seagate retired $302 million of debt, contributing to an annual debt reduction of about $1.4 billion and ending the year with roughly $3.6 billion in debt.
For fiscal 2026, the company generated about $3.7 billion in operating cash flow and returned roughly $810 million to shareholders via dividends and buybacks.
Year-end share count stood at about 227 million ordinary shares outstanding, indicating the size of Seagate’s equity base.
Seagate’s stock moved higher in after-hours trading, with shares rising roughly 4.5% following the Q4 results and guidance.
Seagate posted fiscal Q4 2026 revenue of $3.6 billion, up 48.5% year over year, with GAAP diluted EPS of $5.58 and a non-GAAP EPS of $5.71, according to Yahoo Finance. Shares jumped roughly 4.5% in after-hours trading as investors cheered results that blew past expectations.
For the full fiscal year 2026, Seagate's revenue hit $12.2 billion — a 34% annual gain — while free cash flow reached a record $3.1 billion, per Barchart. The company also cut its debt by $1.4 billion, ending the year at $3.6 billion in total debt and $1.7 billion in cash.
Seagate credited surging cloud data center spending and AI-driven data growth for the strong year. Hyperscalers — the giant cloud companies like Amazon and Google — kept buying hard drives in bulk. That demand pushed quarterly sales to $3.629 billion, Yahoo Finance reported.
Management signaled the momentum will carry into fiscal Q1 2027. Revenue guidance came in at $4.1 billion at the midpoint — a figure Barchart called "surprisingly good." That guidance implies year-over-year growth well above 40%, continuing one of Seagate's strongest stretches in years.
Seagate's HAMR technology — short for Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording — lets hard drives store far more data on the same physical disk. The company's Mozaic platform is built on HAMR and targets exabyte-scale storage needs, the kind generated by AI training and cloud workloads.
The technology gives Seagate an edge as data volumes explode. AI models require enormous amounts of stored data, and hard drive makers that can pack more storage into less space win more contracts. Seagate's GAAP gross margin of 52.3% in Q4 shows that edge is already showing up in profits, per Markets Financial Content.
Seagate used its record cash flow to clean up its balance sheet. It retired $302 million of debt in Q4 alone, cutting annual debt by $1.4 billion, Yahoo Finance reported. The company ended fiscal 2026 with about $3.7 billion in operating cash flow — one of the strongest cash generation years in its history.
Shareholders also got direct returns. Seagate returned about $810 million through dividends and buybacks during the year. It also declared a $0.74-per-share quarterly dividend, payable in October 2026. With roughly 227 million shares outstanding, the dividend program represents a meaningful ongoing cash commitment.
Wall Street cheered the results. Multiple analysts issued Buy ratings following the earnings release, pointing to Seagate's dominant position in cloud storage and its improving margins, according to Barchart. The stock's after-hours pop of roughly 4.5% reflected that enthusiasm.
Still, some caution is warranted. Seagate shares have risen sharply over the past year, and analysts note the stock's valuation has stretched significantly. Investors betting on continued growth need AI-linked storage demand to stay strong — any slowdown in cloud spending could pressure the stock, even if the underlying business remains solid.
