VA Tech Wabag Secures Major Effluent Treatment Order From Reliance Industries

VA Tech Wabag shares rose nearly 3% to an intraday high of ₹2,064 on the NSE after the order announcement; the company’s market capitalization was reported at about ₹12,634.86 crore.
Wabag said the contract does not involve any interest from Reliance’s promoters, promoter group or group companies, and that it does not constitute a related-party transaction.
Sivakumar V, Wabag’s senior general manager for sales and marketing in the India cluster, said the order would support RIL’s “evolving water and wastewater management requirements” and demonstrate Wabag’s technological expertise and execution capabilities.
The order follows other recent project wins for Wabag, including a Doha seawater reverse-osmosis desalination project with a recarbonation system in Kuwait and a major wastewater-treatment order from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
VA Tech Wabag shares jumped nearly 3% after securing a repeat order from Reliance Industries worth ₹100-250 crore to build an effluent treatment plant at the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar. Economic Times reported the stock hit an intraday high of ₹2,064 on the NSE, reflecting investor confidence in the company's water treatment capabilities.
The project will use chemical and biological treatment technologies plus low-temperature sludge drying, and must be completed in 13 months. Upstox noted the contract reinforces Wabag's longstanding relationship with Reliance and does not involve related-party transactions.
The stock's 3% surge reflects strong investor sentiment around the order. Investment Guru India reported Wabag was trading at ₹2,021 on the BSE, up 0.79% from its previous close of ₹2,005.25. The company's market capitalization stands at approximately ₹12,634.86 crore, positioning it as a key player in India's water treatment sector.
This is a repeat order from Reliance Industries, underscoring the energy giant's confidence in Wabag's execution and technology. Sahi highlighted the project will serve the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex, a strategic facility for RIL's renewable energy push. The repeat nature of the contract signals satisfaction with previous work and long-term partnership potential.
The plant will combine chemical and biological treatment methods with low-temperature sludge drying — a sophisticated approach to industrial wastewater management. Business Upturn noted the facility addresses RIL's evolving water and wastewater management needs at its Jamnagar complex. Sivakumar V, Wabag's senior general manager for sales and marketing, said the project demonstrates the company's technological expertise and execution capabilities.
The Jamnagar contract adds to Wabag's recent wins across India and the Middle East. The company recently landed a seawater reverse-osmosis desalination project in Kuwait with a recarbonation system, plus a major wastewater treatment order from Bangalore's water supply board. These consecutive wins position Wabag as a growing force in industrial water solutions across Asia.
