BitMine Expands Ethereum Treasury, Nearing 5% of Total Supply and Projecting High Staking Yields.

Alchemy of 5%: BitMine’s ETH holdings of 5,787,414 ETH amount to about 4.8% of Ethereum’s circulating supply; at the target 5% the stake would be roughly 6.04 million ETH, leaving about 247,586 ETH to reach the goal if supply remains unchanged.
Large staked position: BitMine has 4,917,189 ETH staked through MAVAN and partners, representing about 85% of its total ETH holdings and valued at $9.6 billion using the $1,948 reference price.
Projected annual rewards if all ETH were staked: BitMine’s staking could deliver about $299 million in annual rewards, beyond the $254 million estimated for the current seven-day yield.
Record buyback milestone: BitMine has repurchased more than 11 million shares under its $4 billion buyback program since July 1, 2026, described as the largest-ever common stock buyback for any ETH or Bitcoin digital asset treasury.
Comprehensive asset snapshot: BitMine’s holdings include 208 BTC, $180 million in Beast Industries stock, $61 million in Eightco Holdings, and total cash & marketable securities of $268 million, contributing to an overall crypto and cash position around $11.8 billion.
BitMine Immersion Technologies now holds 5,787,414 ETH — about 4.8% of Ethereum's entire circulating supply — after buying another 9,946 ETH last week, according to CoinDesk. The company's total crypto and cash portfolio is valued at roughly $11.8 billion, and it is closing in fast on its stated goal of owning 5% of all ETH.
Chairman Tom Lee said the recent strength of ETH relative to Bitcoin is a bullish signal for higher ETH prices ahead. Crypto Briefing reported that the company also repurchased 6.1 million shares last week as part of a broader buyback effort.
BitMine needs roughly 247,586 more ETH to hit its 5% target, assuming the circulating supply stays flat at about 120.6 million ETH. At last week's pace of nearly 10,000 ETH per week, the company could reach that milestone within roughly 25 weeks. Crypto News noted the company has made weekly ETH purchases every week since launching its treasury strategy in June 2025.
The current 5,787,414 ETH stake is valued at approximately $11.3 billion using a reference price of $1,948 per ETH, according to Crypto Briefing. The company also holds 208 BTC, $180 million in Beast Industries stock, $61 million in Eightco Holdings stock, and $268 million in cash and other securities.
BitMine has staked 4,917,189 ETH — about 85% of its total holdings — through a partner called MAVAN and other validators. Staking means locking up ETH to help run the Ethereum network in exchange for rewards. At the current seven-day yield of 2.65%, that position generates an estimated $254 million in annualized revenue, according to Crypto Briefing.
If BitMine staked all of its ETH rather than just 85%, annual rewards could reach roughly $299 million. The staked position alone is valued at $9.6 billion at the $1,948 reference price. Head Topics reported the staking program positions BitMine as more than a simple holder — it earns ongoing income from its ETH pile.
BitMine has repurchased more than 11 million shares since July 1, 2026, under a $4 billion share buyback program. The company calls it the largest-ever common stock buyback by any ETH or Bitcoin digital asset treasury company. Last week's 6.1 million share repurchase was a single-week record for the program, according to Crypto News.
Buying back shares reduces the number of shares outstanding, which can boost the value of each remaining share. Running a buyback and buying more ETH at the same time signals that BitMine is betting big on both its own stock and on Ethereum. CoinDesk noted that Tom Lee pointed to the ETH/BTC ratio as evidence that the broader market is turning in Ethereum's favor.
BitMine's portfolio is heavily concentrated in Ethereum. A sharp drop in ETH prices would hit its $11.8 billion portfolio hard and fast. The company has flagged these concentration risks in its quarterly regulatory filings, along with concerns about how it values assets like its stakes in Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings, according to Crypto Briefing.
Despite the risks, BitMine shows no sign of slowing down. It has bought ETH every single week since June 2025. Tom Lee's bullish view — that ETH's strength against Bitcoin points to higher prices — appears to be driving the strategy forward at full speed.
