Hardik Pandya suffers fresh shin injury and is set to miss New Zealand series.

Hardik Pandya suffered a fresh right-shin injury during rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, delaying his return to competitive cricket. The injury rules him out of India A’s one-day series against Australia A, and reports say he is expected to miss India’s New Zealand tour, which begins with T20Is on October 22. He has been advised to rest, with further assessment and a recovery timeline pending; scans reportedly showed no structural damage or established stress fracture. Pandya has not played since the 2026 IPL, and recurring fitness problems have repeatedly disrupted his comeback plans.
Pandya’s return-to-play date had been set for September 20, and he was selected for India A on the expectation that the Australia A one-day series would serve as a test of his match fitness.
A BCCI source said medical panel head Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala would assess Pandya after returning from Japan and decide when he could resume rehabilitation; the source said Pandya had been advised to take two weeks of complete rest.
The BCCI had reportedly considered Pandya for the Asian Games in Japan and collected his passport for visa processing before the latest injury setback.
With Pandya unavailable for the West Indies series, India brought seam-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy into the white-ball squad; Suryansh Shedge was also reported to be training at the Centre of Excellence as a possible India A replacement.
