Hospitals Across India and UAE Mark World Heart Day With Fitness Events and Free Screenings

Hospitals in India and the UAE marked World Heart Day with walks, runs, fitness challenges, screenings and public education promoting exercise, preventive care and healthier habits. In India, events included a five-kilometer walkathon by SIMS Hospital in Chennai; a Mangaluru event by KMC Hospital that drew more than 1,500 people and introduced metabolic heart screening for adults ages 25 to 45; a Chandigarh fitness challenge culminating in a cyclothon and walkathon attended by about 1,500 people; and races in Tiruchi, including a half-marathon, along with walks and education sessions in Thanjavur. In Hyderabad, Yashoda Hospitals held activity challenges, while providers highlighted heart risks among younger people and a specialist valve clinic offering assessment and treatment planning, including advanced interventions. In the UAE, NMC Healthcare offered free community checks for blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol and blood sugar, as well as specialist advice. Health professionals urged people to seek regular checks, recognize warning signs and act early, noting that cardiovascular risks can often be reduced through prevention and timely care.
Kamineni Hospitals reported 2,287 cardiac procedures in the past year, including 175 involving patients under 40, and cautioned that cardiovascular disease in younger adults may not cause severe chest pain.
Medicover’s new Valve Clinic will evaluate and plan treatment for valve disorders, including structural heart interventions such as TAVI and TAVR.
NMC Healthcare said no prior booking or appointment was needed to attend its free screenings at participating UAE venues.
Kauvery Hospital’s Tiruchi run featured a 21.1-km half marathon, a 10-km challenge and a 5-km fun run, with ₹3 lakh in total prize money for winners.
