Harris County Deputy Shot During Family Disturbance Followed by 12-Hour Manhunt

Court documents allege Patin shot out his mother’s tire as she tried to leave, fired shots into the ceiling of her home, and said he did not want to return to jail and planned to commit “suicide by cop.”
A witness said she had seen Patin in the neighborhood the previous day. When she later found him in the shed, he asked her to call his mother; she called 911 instead.
During the search, teams went door to door asking residents to turn on floodlights and check their deadbolts; deputies also evacuated people from a neighboring home before closing in on the shed.
The sheriff’s office said responding deputies had no time to return fire when Patin allegedly turned his gun on them.
