Kentucky Dominates South Alabama With Impressive 45-21 Football Victory

Kentucky beat South Alabama 45-21 in Lexington to improve to 3-1, pulling away after a sloppy first half in which the Jaguars briefly led 21-14. The Wildcats’ running game powered the win: CJ Baxter, Jason Patterson and Jovantae Barnes combined for 386 yards and five touchdowns, becoming the first Kentucky trio with 100 rushing yards apiece in a game since 2020. Patterson’s 75-yard touchdown run tied the game late in the first half, and a subsequent interception helped Kentucky take a 24-21 halftime lead. Kentucky then shut out South Alabama in the second half, scoring 21 unanswered points; Patterson finished with 137 yards and three touchdowns, while Baxter ran for 149 yards and Barnes for 100. Despite turnovers and other costly mistakes, Kentucky outgained the Jaguars and now turns to a road matchup with South Carolina.
