Several motorcycle crashes in India left at least six people dead and one seriously injured. In Guwahati, a rider was seriously injured after allegedly traveling on the wrong side of a flyover and colliding head-on with a car; he was taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. In Koppal, two employees traveling to work died when their motorcycle collided with a goods vehicle near Bandi Harlapura, and police registered a case. In Kendujhar, an unidentified couple died after a speeding truck struck their motorcycle from behind, with the driver fleeing before police recovered the bodies. In a separate crash on the Hubballi-Gadag bypass, Rajani and Sukumar Tikala were killed when their motorcycle collided with an oncoming courier or goods vehicle; police are investigating the circumstances.
The Koppal victims were identified as Hullesh Valikara and Maruthi, both residents of Bandi Harlapura and employees of Munkand Steel Company.
In the Kendujhar crash, the woman was reportedly dragged for about 200 meters after the collision; police recovered both bodies and sent them for post-mortem examinations while trying to trace the fleeing truck.
The Hubballi victims were identified as Rajani Tikala, a nurse at a private hospital, and her husband Sukumar; they were reportedly returning home after Rajani completed her duty.
Police in the Hubballi case registered a case and are examining the movements of both vehicles, gathering information about the courier vehicle and its driver, and seeking witness accounts; the exact cause had not been established.
