Wipro Expands Databricks Partnership, Launches Dedicated Enterprise AI Unit for Scalable Solutions

An automated Unity Catalog upgrade module will migrate legacy Hive Metastore (HMS) tables and code into Databricks Unity Catalog, providing unified governance, auditability, and security controls during data migrations.
The WDIs automated cloudification engine is designed to reduce manual intervention when transferring data pipelines from on-premises environments to multi-cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud, and AWS).
Wipro’s AI-Data Centre (AI-Data Centre) solution is now globally available across telecommunications, banking and financial services, retail, and healthcare sectors.
The expanded partnership cites quantified benefits, including up to a 30% reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO) and 50% productivity gains for cloud migration projects in regulated industries.
The collaboration is anchored in a foundation of more than 300 agentic AI use cases delivered across sectors, underscoring the depth of prior joint work.
Wipro and Databricks have deepened their alliance, launching a dedicated Databricks business practice aimed at moving large companies from messy, fragmented data systems to governed, scalable AI, according to MarketScreener. The new unit blends Databricks' data and AI tools with Wipro's own platforms to serve industries including banking, healthcare, telecom, retail, and manufacturing.
The partnership builds on more than 300 agentic AI use cases the two companies say they have already delivered together, according to Benzinga. Wipro also holds two Databricks awards: Banking Partner of the Year for 2025 and Innovation Partner of the Year for 2026.
Many large companies are stuck running AI pilots that never scale. Wipro's new Databricks practice is built to fix that. It combines Databricks Genie — a tool that lets workers query data using plain language — with Wipro's WEGA platform, which prepares data architecture for AI workloads, according to Channel Life.
The practice also draws on Wipro Intelligence, the company's broader enterprise AI layer. Together, the tools aim to unify data spread across multiple cloud environments into a single governed platform. That unified view is what most companies lack before they can run AI at scale, IT Brief reported.
One of the most concrete offerings in the deal is an automated Unity Catalog upgrade module. It moves legacy Hive Metastore tables and code into Databricks Unity Catalog. That gives companies unified data governance, better security, and full auditability — without rebuilding everything by hand, according to MarketScreener.
Wipro's Data Intelligence Suite also includes a cloudification engine that reduces manual work when shifting data pipelines from on-premises servers to Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS. The company cites up to a 30% drop in total cost of ownership and 50% productivity gains for cloud migration projects in regulated industries, Benzinga reported.
Wipro's AI-Data Centre solution is now globally available across telecommunications, banking and financial services, retail, and healthcare. The product is designed to give companies in those sectors a ready-made, AI-ready data environment rather than forcing them to build one from scratch, Channel Life reported.
The solution sits on top of the Databricks lakehouse architecture, which stores and processes both structured and unstructured data in one place. That single platform replaces the patchwork of siloed tools that often slows AI projects before they begin, according to IT Brief.
The expanded deal is not a fresh start. Wipro says the two companies have jointly delivered more than 300 agentic AI use cases across sectors. Agentic AI refers to systems that take actions on their own, not just answer questions. That track record gives the new practice a tested foundation to build on, according to MarketScreener.
Wipro frames the goal plainly: help clients stop running disconnected pilots and start deploying AI that works at full company scale. With the new governance tools, automated migration engines, and sector-specific products now in place, the alliance is betting that outcome is finally within reach, Benzinga reported.
