US Extends Flight Ban to Haiti Capital Amid Ongoing Gang Violence

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has extended a ban on U.K. flights to Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, until March due to ongoing gang violence. Commercial operators and U.N.-registered civilian aircraft cannot fly below 10,000 feet (around 3,000 meters) in Port-aux-Prince and nearby areas, including central Haiti. The ban was first implemented in November 2025 after gunmen shot at a Spirit Airlines flight landing at Port-ao-Prince’s Toussaint Louverture International Airport. The latest extension will remain in place until March 2. The extended ban comes less than a month after a federal judge officially ended Temporary Protected Status for Haitians in the U.
