Los Angeles Rams Quarterback Matthew Stafford Makes Surprise Cameo in Taylor Swift Music Video

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and his wife, Kelly, made surprise background appearances in Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” music video, which debuted at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards while Stafford was playing the Rams’ Sunday night game against the Denver Broncos. Swift directed the video and introduced it while receiving the inaugural Artist Director Honors. Other recognizable appearances included Erin Andrews, Charissa Thompson, Dakota Johnson, Colin Farrell and former hockey player Jarret Stoll. The Staffords are friends of Swift and Travis Kelce and reportedly attended the couple’s wedding over the summer.
Matthew and Kelly Stafford appear slow dancing with wide smiles in the background as Swift passes them.
“Patient Zero” was one of four new songs released Friday as part of “The Life of a Showgirl: Encore.”
Cara Delevingne also makes a cameo. An earlier Emmy’s appearance by Swift included clues pointing to video appearances: an Aries symbol for Stafford, “North or South” for Dakota Johnson, and “from the vine” for Delevingne.
Swift announced “Patient Zero” on September 22; the song was written by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback and received limited-edition CD and 7-inch vinyl releases.
