NBCUniversal and YouTube Forge Global Deal, Bundling Peacock Premium with YouTube Premium

NBC Sports will serve as a production partner for select live events on YouTube, building on prior NBC Sports work such as producing YouTube's NFL game from Brazil; additional YouTube telecasts will be identified for NBC Sports production in the near term.
A portion of NBCU’s live sports will also be streamed for free on NBC Sports’ own YouTube channel, with a selection of NBCU live sports available there as part of the deal.
Universal+ and Hayu will be expanded through YouTube Premium in select international markets, broadening NBCUniversal’s international streaming reach.
Executives framed the deal as leveraging YouTube’s scale for NBCU’s franchises: Mike Cavanagh said the partnership brings NBCU’s content to YouTube’s 'unmatched scale and global platforms,' while YouTube’s Neal Mohan said they are expanding to redefine what a modern entertainment subscription can be for consumers.
The price for the new Peacock-in-YouTube Premium bundle has not been disclosed yet.
NBCUniversal and YouTube have struck a major multi-year global deal that will fold Peacock Premium directly into YouTube Premium starting in early 2027, according to Media Play News. The agreement is the largest wholesale distribution partnership in Peacock's history, giving the streaming service — which currently counts 48 million subscribers — access to YouTube Premium's vast global audience.
The deal goes far beyond streaming bundles. It extends NBCU's distribution on YouTube TV, expands NBC Sports' production role for live events on YouTube, and broadens Universal+ and Hayu into select international markets, Sports Video Group reported.
Beginning in early 2027, Peacock Premium will be available directly inside the YouTube Premium experience for U.S. subscribers, Tipp Insights reported. Peacock's full library — including NFL, NBA, MLB, Olympics, college football, and popular reality series — will be accessible without switching apps. The price for the bundled package has not been disclosed yet.
NBCU's President Mike Cavanagh said the deal brings the company's content to YouTube's "unmatched scale and global platforms." YouTube CEO Neal Mohan said the companies are working to "redefine what a modern entertainment subscription can be" for consumers, according to Sports Video Group.
NBC Sports will serve as a production partner for select live events streamed on YouTube, Sports Business Journal reported. The arrangement builds on NBC Sports already producing YouTube's NFL game from Brazil. More YouTube telecasts will be identified for NBC Sports production in the near term.
On top of that, a portion of NBCU's live sports will stream for free on NBC Sports' own YouTube channel. That means fans can watch select live games directly on YouTube without a paid subscription, deepening the tie between NBCU's sports rights and YouTube's platform.
The partnership also pushes NBCU's streaming reach beyond the U.S. Universal+ and Hayu will be distributed through YouTube Premium in select international markets, Sports Video Group reported. This gives NBCU a low-cost path to grow its global subscriber base without building its own distribution infrastructure abroad.
The deal includes an advertising technology piece as well. NBCU's ad-tech platform FreeWheel will collaborate with YouTube on monetization tools. The agreement also strengthens ties with Comcast platforms, including Xfinity and Xumo, according to Media Play News.
The NBCU-YouTube deal fits a clear pattern in media. Companies are bundling content into popular platforms to replace revenue lost as viewers leave traditional cable TV. YouTube Premium gives NBCU instant access to a massive built-in audience instead of fighting for new subscribers one by one.
Market Screener noted this is the biggest wholesale distribution deal Peacock has ever signed. For YouTube, adding Peacock's live sports and entertainment library makes its premium tier much more competitive with services like Apple TV+ and Disney+. Both sides get scale — and that is the whole point.
