Seahawks Explore Defensive Alternatives As Nick Emmanwori Misses Practice Ahead Of Season Opener

Nick Emmanwori, the key defensive player for the Seahawks' defense, may not be ready for the season opener against the New England Patriots. The team has issued their first participation and injury report of the season, three days before Seattle hosts the New Patriots. Coach Mike Macdonald's hybrid safety/linebacker, EmmanWori, has not fully recovered from arthroscopic ankle surgery since mid-July. The Seahawks are working through alternatives for playing without Emman worried, including using an extra fifth defensive back to move Pro Bowl cornerback Devon Witherspoon from outside to inside at nickel in passing situations. There are also questions about whether Trevon Diggs, the former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro cornerback, is ready to play as third cornerback for the upcoming game against New England.
