Man Sentenced To Six Years In Prison For Domestic Violence And Weapons Offenses

Jared Edward Dean Tresham, 42, has been sentenced to six years in prison for beating his wife with a Bible and threatening her with guns while intoxicated WCAX. The Keizer, Oregon man struck his wife on the head, arms, back, and neck with the Bible before retrieving a .45-caliber handgun and an AR-15-style rifle from their bedroom closet WNEM. After a three-hour standoff with police and a crisis negotiator, Tresham surrendered without injuring his two children who were inside the home.
Attack Escalates From Bible Beating to Armed Threats
On May 10, 2025, Tresham entered the bedroom he shared with his wife while drunk and began hitting her repeatedly with a Bible WILX. When she tried to escape, he stopped her and retrieved two firearms from the closet. He aimed the .45-caliber handgun directly at her forehead WBNG. His wife managed to flee to the garage, where she called 911. Responding Keizer Police officers found and protected her there.
Three-Hour Standoff Ends Peacefully With Children Safe
Tresham barricaded himself inside the house with his two minor children, triggering an armed standoff with police KTTC. A Keizer Police crisis negotiator spent approximately three hours talking with Tresham to end the situation without violence. He eventually surrendered and was taken into custody. The children were safely removed from the home during the standoff.
Felony Conviction For Illegal Gun Possession and Abuse
Tresham was already a convicted felon and legally banned from owning firearms, yet he possessed both weapons in his home KWTX. A jury found him guilty of unlawful use of a weapon during domestic violence, coercion during domestic violence, and two counts of felon in possession of a firearm WOWT. Beyond the six-year prison sentence, he will serve two years of post-release probation, during which he cannot own guns or contact his victim.
