Derek Fisher Recalls Emotional Return to Salt Lake City With Jazz

Derek Fisher, a former NBA player, played only one season with the Utah Jazz and experienced one of the most memorable moments of his career. The Jazz acquired Fisher in a trade with the Golden State Warriors in 2006, and he was brought in to provide veteran leadership for a young team. He played all 82 games and started 61, averaging 10.1 points and 3.3 assists, helping the Jazz achieve a 51-31 record. In the 2007 playoffs, Fisher returned to play despite missing Game 1 to accompany his daughter, Tatum, to New York for treatment. Fisher asked the Jazz to release him from his contract so he could play in a city where his daughter could receive better care for her condition. He returned to Los Angeles and won three consecutive NBA titles with the Lakers.
