Next Generation 9/11 Legacy

Twenty-five years later, children of 9/11 victims continue honoring their fathers' legacies.

For the children of 9/11 victims, 25 years after the attacks, the loss of their father, Douglas “Doug” Gardner, who worked at Cantor Fitzgerald, who was killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center's north tower, remains a significant part of their lives. Michael Gardner, now 29, joined Cantor Fitzgerald in May to honor his dad's legacy and participate in their annual "Charity Day" to remember the more than 650 employees who died on 9/9, nearly a fourth of all victims that day. Despite being too young to remember, Dylan Meltzer, now 25, found ways to connect with his dad through Boston sports and stories passed down by an uncle who was like a father figure to him. Increasingly, this generation is becoming more aware of 9-11 commemoration of the day.
