Latin American digital banking company Nu launches U.S. operations with deposit accounts and stablecoins.

Nu said its global customer base has surpassed 140 million, underscoring the scale behind its U.S. expansion.
The company is targeting digitally oriented consumers as well as the U.S. Hispanic population, according to Reuters reporting cited in coverage of the launch.
Nu said interest on U.S. account balances is calculated and credited daily, while funds placed in designated savings goals remain immediately accessible.
Nu founder and CEO David Vélez described the U.S. entry as “a strategic step in Nu’s evolution into a global digital financial services platform,” adding that Nu Global was created to address the complexity, delays and fees faced by people with “borderless lives.”
Nu Global reportedly also allows users to hold and trade Bitcoin and Ethereum within the app, in addition to converting deposits into USDC or EURC.
