Institutional Investors Add Over One Billion Dollars in Apple Stakes

Several institutional investors reported new or expanded Apple holdings in the second quarter, reflecting continued portfolio interest in the company; hedge funds and institutions collectively own about 67.73% of its shares. The reported purchases ranged from smaller positions to major stakes, including 3.26 million shares by CIBC World Market and 261,856 shares by Meiji Yasuda Asset Management. The reports also cite encouraging iPhone 18 demand, particularly in India, as a near-term support for revenue, alongside mixed regional trends and potential product and AI-related growth catalysts. One report noted that Apple senior vice president Jennifer Newstead sold 2,399 shares.
Cetera Trust Company opened a 39,492-share Apple position worth about $11.43 million; Apple represented 5.7% of its portfolio and was its second-largest holding.
Ames National Corp. purchased 17,539 Apple shares, worth approximately $5.08 million, making Apple 2.8% of its holdings and its eighth-largest position.
Evercore ISI raised its Apple price target to $380 from $365 while maintaining an outperform rating, citing continued iPhone 18 interest.
After Jennifer Newstead’s reported sale, she directly owned 44,391 Apple shares, valued at about $15.10 million; the transaction reduced her stake by 5.13%.
