Apex Legends Launches Street Fighter 6 Crossover Event

Players can collect Fight Gauge tokens by smashing special Punch Trucks placed around the Street Fighter-themed Olympus map; Luke’s Gym also serves as a dedicated themed location.
The four Apex KO fighters can be practiced and swapped in the Fighting Range before matches, allowing players to learn moves such as Ryu’s Hadoken, Chun-Li’s Kikoken and Dhalsim’s Yoga Sunburst; Akuma also has a battle-royale adaptation of his Raging Demon.
The crossover is scheduled to launch on September 22, according to Apex Legends art director Alisa Rastorgueva’s interview.
Alisa Rastorgueva said the redesigns gave the Legends “some of the thickest thighs we’ve ever done,” reflecting the difficulty of translating Street Fighter’s exaggerated physiques into Apex Legends’ more semi-realistic visual style.
The collaboration was first teased through an official Apex Legends social-media video featuring Street Fighter 6’s spray effects and command-input visuals, including the series’ recognizable quarter-circle-forward fireball motion.
Apex Legends is teaming up with Capcom's Street Fighter 6 for a limited-time crossover launching September 22. Bleeding Cool reports the event transforms Olympus with arcade cabinets, themed locations, and Street Fighter signage. Players can fight as Ryu, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, or Akuma—each with signature moves like Hadoken and Raging Demon—while collecting tokens to unlock temporary Fighter Form abilities.
The collaboration flips Apex's own Legends into Street Fighter characters: Sparrow becomes Ryu, Alter becomes Chun-Li, and Gibraltar becomes Akuma. Invenglobal notes the art team faced a unique challenge: translating Street Fighter's exaggerated proportions into Apex's semi-realistic style. Rastorgueva said the redesigns gave Legends "some of the thickest thighs we've ever done."
The Apex KO mode lets players pick Ryu, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, or Akuma. Each has unique abilities matched to Street Fighter lore. Otakukart explains Ryu throws Hadoken fireballs, Chun-Li fires Kikoken blasts, and Dhalsim launches Yoga Sunburst attacks. Akuma's Raging Demon gets adapted for battle royale. Players can practice all four in the Fighting Range before jumping into matches.
Special Punch Trucks dot the Street Fighter-themed Olympus map. Smashing them rewards Fight Gauge tokens that unlock temporary Fighter Form transformations. Yahoo News notes Luke's Gym serves as the main themed location for this collaboration. The tokens are key to activating the crossover's signature mechanic: temporary power-ups tied to your chosen fighter.
Respawn redesigned eight Legends as iconic Street Fighter characters. Sparrow is Ryu, Alter is Chun-Li, Mirage becomes Luke, Caustic transforms into Blanka, Wattson is Cammy, Gibraltar is Akuma, Bangalore becomes Elena, and Pathfinder is Dhalsim. Invenglobal reports the biggest challenge was matching Street Fighter's cartoonish, hyper-muscular look while keeping Apex's visual identity intact. The result: Legends with noticeably exaggerated builds.
Respawn designed this crossover to blend both franchises' core themes: competition and mastery. Go Nintendo confirms the event includes Street Fighter-themed cosmetics and a Hadoken-inspired universal melee weapon. The collaboration launches with fresh cosmetics tied to the crossover. By mixing Apex's battle royale format with Street Fighter's fighting-game depth, the event asks players to learn new move sets while battling for survival.
