Binance Pay enables crypto spending across PayPay merchants throughout Japan

Binance Pay is enabling eligible overseas users visiting Japan to spend more than 100 cryptocurrencies at PayPay-supported merchants nationwide. The service links Binance Pay to PayPay’s merchant network through HIVEX, which processes payments so merchants receive Japanese yen without needing to accept crypto directly or sign up separately. Binance Pay uses USDT as a settlement layer, with PayPay handling the final settlement to merchants. The integration adds crypto payments to an established network that includes retailers, vending machines, taxis and public transportation.
Binance said it is the first cryptocurrency payment service to reach PayPay-supported merchants through HIVEX.
PayPay already connects with nine other overseas payment services, mainly from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, making Binance Pay an addition to an existing cross-border QR payment network.
Binance’s announcement said users can use Binance Pay for dining, shopping, accommodation, entertainment and other expenses at PayPay merchants throughout Japan.
One report said the service converts users’ crypto balances to yen in real time and charges no gas fees.
