MVP Open officials shorten tournament layout following severe weather warnings

Michael Brennan returns to defend his Bank of Utah Championship title, which he won on a sponsor exemption in just his third PGA Tour start; since then, he has also won the Wyndham Championship. At the 2026 MVP Open x OTB, disc golf officials are trying to complete the final round despite severe-weather risks and limited daylight, with plans to start early and shorten the layout if needed; they hope to avoid cutting the field because the event affects Powerball Cup qualification. The Presidents Cup at Medinah is set to feature a heavily favored U.S. team competing in four-ball, foursomes and singles.
Brennan earned his PGA Tour opportunity after winning three times on PGA Tour Americas and receiving a Three Victory Promotion to the Korn Ferry Tour just six weeks before his Bank of Utah Championship breakthrough.
Black Desert Resort, the venue described in the course guide, sits about 3,100 feet above sea level; the guide says altitude reduces its 7,421-yard layout to roughly 7,000 yards for professionals and makes three par-5s and two par-4s reachable.
The disc golf tour said it developed the Sunday plan with its operations and safety teams, Maple Hill, the Player Council, the National Weather Service and Perry Weather. It would attempt 18 holes, but a field cut could still be required if weather delays left too little time.
For Sunday at the MVP Open, the forecast called for winds to improve around midday while rain increased through the day, prompting the DGPT to set thresholds for shortening the layout if delays pushed the start later.
