Cocktail 2 Debuts Strong, Surpassing Original with ₹12-14 Crore First Day Box Office

Industry sources said the reported ₹12–14 crore nett Day 1 range would be a stronger opening than the 2012 original’s ₹10.95 crore opening day.
Advance-booking context: one report placed Cocktail 2 as the third-highest advance booking of 2026 (with Dhurandhar 2 and Border 2 ahead). Another tracking piece said it sold 55,000 opening-day tickets in national chains, ranking it 4th best of 2026 behind Dhurandhar The Revenge, Border 2 and Bhooth Bangla.
Beyond the numbers, reporting described Cocktail 2 as a spiritual sequel that shifts to a “new set of characters caught in a web of relationships, friendship and romance,” with Homi Adajania returning to direct.
Some analysts projected a wider early runway: if audience turnout stays steady, Cocktail 2 could net ₹40–45 crore in its first three days.
Cocktail 2 opened across India on June 19, 2026, with early estimates pointing to a Day 1 nett collection of ₹12–14 crore, according to Saptashwa TV. That would beat the 2012 original's ₹10.95 crore opening day. The Homi Adajania-directed romantic drama stars Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna.
The film sold over 1.6 lakh tickets nationwide before release, generating roughly ₹5.57 crore in advance bookings, Tenvow reported. Early morning occupancy sat at 11–12%, and trade trackers said the picture could net ₹40–45 crore over its opening weekend if the trend holds.
Cocktail 2 entered its opening day ranked third in 2026 advance bookings, trailing only Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Border 2, according to Addatoday. In national chains like PVR INOX and Cinepolis alone, it sold around 55,000 to 70,000 tickets. Maharashtra led regional demand with ₹1.98 crore in advance gross, followed by Delhi at ₹1.71 crore and Karnataka at ₹0.95 crore.
The film opened in 4,160 shows on its first day. By early afternoon, live tracking showed a nett collection of ₹2.29 crore, NDTV Profit reported. Industry watchers noted that the pace needed to accelerate through the evening and night shows for the film to hit the ₹12–14 crore target by day's end.
Cocktail 2 is not a direct continuation of the 2012 film. Director Homi Adajania described it as
